Thick Ceramic Adhesive Mortar

Description

It is used for bonding of the ceramic or marble, granite ceramic, glazed porcelain, clinker and similar natural stone coating materials that may require thick bedding to the walls and flooring indoor and outdoor.

  • Allows heat, sound and fire insulation by a single product.
  • It allows grading on the rough floors up to a thickness of 20mm.
  • Applicable in the mortar thickness required for bonding natural stone, marble and similar coating adhesion.
  • Improved performance for floor applications.
  • Light, reducing the load of the building.
  • Safe to use for heavy-traffic and heated floors.
  • Resistant against sudden change of temperature.
  • High level of water vapor permeability.
  • High resistance against cracking.
  • Safe and very easy to apply due to special additives it contains.
  • Reduced consumption saves the budget.

Application Conditions

  • Ambient temperature should be in the range of +5°C through +30°C.
  • Avoid of application under the conditions of strong wind or direct sunlight.
  • Never apply on surfaces, frozen, melting or likely to be exposed to frost hazard in 24 hours.
  • Take care that the adhesive does not create film during application.
Product Properties

It is a cement-based thick bedding ceramic adhesive mortar with a reduced displacement, supporting heat and sound insulation, extended open time, especially designed for rough flooring.

Application Surfaces

• Cement based plaster, concrete flooring
• Gypsum block, gypsum board, gypsum plaster and concrete board (indoors)
• Cement-based screed, concrete flooring, old ceramic tile flooring

Application Characteristics

Time for correction 25 minutes
Usability time for ready mortar 4 hours
Application thickness Maximum 5 - 20 mm
Application

Surface Preparation

Surface should be thoroughly sound, appropriate for bearing load, flat, clean and free of any grease and roughness.

Rendering less than 3mm should be completely removed by scraping.

Surface should be definitely made damp prior to application to be water-saturated in very hot and windy weather conditions.

Any serious irregularity and cavities on the surface should be repaired by using No1 Thick Ceramic Adhesive Mortar.

Application

  • Add clean water of about 6 – 7.5 l to one 20-kg bag of No1 Thick Bedding Ceramic Adhesive Mortar.
  • Mix to get a homogenous consistency by using a trowel or slow-speed hand mixer. Allow the mortar for 5-10 minutes prior to application.
  • Mix the adhesive mortar definitively for 1-2 minutes prior to application.
  • Thickness of the mortar applied to the surface should be adjusted by use of a toothed steel trowel. Outer dimension of the trowel should be determined according to the size of the ceramic tile to be laid and smoothness of the application surface.
  • For a good bonding in case of all outdoor, flooring and wall applications, apply force by help of rubber mallet to remove any trapped air.

Recommendations

Recommendations

  • No foreign material (lime, cement, gypsum, etc.) should be added to the prepared mortar.
  • Not applicable on metal surfaces.
  • Do not use it for floors exposed to heavy traffic (industrial sites, etc.).
  • Do not apply it on the prefabricated and heated surfaces.

Application Tools

  • Hand mixer, trowels, rubber hammer.

Shelf Life

  • 1 year from the manufacturing date in a moisture-free and dry environment.  Container should be tightly closed when it is not used.
